Yampa Valley Electric Association is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead our financial operations and serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors.
The Role: As CFO, you'll oversee all financial functions including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, and regulatory compliance. You'll translate financial data into clear insights that inform decision-making across the organization. This role requires both technical financial expertise and the ability to collaborate effectively with operations, engineering, and member experience teams.

Your Responsibilities:
Lead financial planning, reporting, and analysis.
Ensure compliance with RUS andand other regulatory requirements.
Oversee accounting operations and internal controls.
Provide financial guidance to the Board of Directors.
Manage relationships with lenders, auditors, and financial partners.
Support rate design and cost-of-service studies.
Lead annual budgeting and long-term financial forecasting.
Your Qualifications:
10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience with at least 5 years in senior management roles
Proven track record leading finance teams, developing financial talent, and driving organizational results
Deep expertise in GAAP accounting standards and financial statement preparation
Strong knowledge of RUS accounting and reporting requirements
Experience with utility accounting, rate design, and cost-of-service studies
Demonstrated success managing capital planning, treasury operations, and debt financing
Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical capabilities
Experience presenting to boards of directors and providing strategic counsel to executive leadership
Electric utility experience strongly preferred; cooperative experience a significant plus
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required (MBA or advanced degree advantageous). Equivalent experience at a senior level will be considered.
Experience with NISC financial systems or similar utility billing/accounting platforms preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills
