Gothenburg Health recently completed major facility upgrades — including a new surgical suite, expanded outpatient services, and modernized inpatient rooms — positioning it among the most advanced CAHs in the region. As CFO, you will play a central strategic role in shaping the hospital’s long-term financial health, service-line growth, and operational sustainability during this pivotal phase.
Position Overview & Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will lead all financial functions across the organization, including:
Full oversight of finance and accounting operations: budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, monthly financial cycles.
Revenue-cycle leadership: patient access, billing, collections, denials, cost reporting, and the integration of AI-supported workflow enhancements.
Board-level financial reporting, pro-forma modeling, scenario planning for growth initiatives.
Reimbursement strategy and payer contracting, including mastery of CMS/CAH cost-based methodologies.
Vendor contract negotiation and management, performance oversight, and external partnerships.
Financial leadership to support ongoing and future service-line expansion (e.g., outpatient, surgical, imaging, swing-bed utilization, infusion services).
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required; CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
Minimum 3 years in a CFO or VP of Finance role within a hospital, CAH, or ambulatory care setting; rural healthcare experience preferred.
Demonstrated expertise in CMS reimbursement regulations and CAH-specific cost reporting and financial modeling.
Proven track record in managing and optimizing full revenue-cycle operations, vendor management, and contract negotiation.
Experience leading finance operations through major organizational change — such as EMR transitions or facility upgrades — and managing complex financial workflows.
Comfort with using modern financial tools and analytics (AI, ERP, financial dashboards), and ability to work collaboratively across clinical, operational, and administrative teams.
Compensation & Incentives
Salary range: $165,000 – $200,000, commensurate with credentials and experience.
Relocation assistance available.
Opportunity to directly influence strategic growth, capital investments, and service-line expansion in a modern, rural hospital setting.
Ideal Candidate
You are an experienced, hands-on senior finance executive with a strong background in rural hospital or CAH finance. You thrive in smaller, mission-oriented environments where leadership is personal and impactful. You are comfortable leading end-to-end financial operations — from revenue cycle, reimbursement strategy to capital planning — and you bring a combination of analytical acumen, operational savvy, and collaborative leadership.
This role offers the opportunity to lead financial strategy in a hospital with recent capital investments, strong revenue base, and a commitment to growth and sustainability.
