The UCI Division of Continuing Education ('DCE') is the self-supporting continuing education arm of the University of California, Irvine with an annual budget of $40 to $50 million. The Division of Career Pathways ('DCP') provides career services to UCI's undergraduate students, as well as certain graduate students, with a budget between $1.5 and $2 million. Under the general direction of the Assistant Dean, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for directing the Business Services department responsible for general accounting, payroll, financial planning and analysis, and risk management for both organizations. The CFO provides high-level strategic financial analysis and establishes relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Further, the CFO leads the annual budget process, designs, reviews, and implements allocation rules for activity based costing (ABC), overhead, and depreciation, provides financial oversight and audit to insure compliance with university, state, and federal accounting practices, policies, and regulations, provides multi-faceted recommendations for long-range financial planning, and provides risk management oversight. The CFO is a member of the Dean's advisory cabinet and advises senior management on continuing education business trends and is viewed as a strategic partner with senior and mid-level management in making business decisions concerning the core business strategies for DCE.
