The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) directs the fiscal functions of the corporation in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles as set forth by regulatory and advisory agencies in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the industry.
The CFO will direct and oversee the financial activities of the corporation, conduct and direct the preparation of current financial reports and summaries, create forecasts predicting future growth and create and cultivate relationships with financial institutions. The successful applicant will be able to excel in a fast-paced environment as well as assist the organization in meeting goals as related to growth of the business.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Planning, developing, organizing, implementing, directing, and evaluating the organization's fiscal function and performance
Participating in the development of the organization’s plans and programs as a strategic partner
Evaluating and advising on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies, and regulatory actions
Developing credibility for the finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends in order to assist the CEO/President and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities
Enhancing and/or developing, implementing, and enforcing policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and organization’s effectiveness
Establishing credibility throughout the organization as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges
Providing technical financial advice and knowledge to others within the financial discipline
Improving the budgeting process through education of managers on financial issues impacting their budgets
Providing strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization (e.g., evaluation of potential alliances, acquisitions, and/or mergers)
Optimizing the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiating appropriate strategies to enhance cash position
Developing a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism which includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs
Advising from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the organization may enter
Evaluating the departmental structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as providing individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on individual opportunities where possible
Performing other work-related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
Master’s degree in Accounting or Master’s degree in Business Administration AND five (5) years of related experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting AND five (5) years of related experience AND be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Experienced leader and financial executive with appropriate industry experience
Energetic, forward-thinking, and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image
Strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus
Well-organized and self-directed with "politically savvy" and a team-player approach
Intelligent and articulate in relating to people at all levels of an organization with excellent communication skills
Trustworthy with willingness to share information and to serve as a mentor
Excellent negotiation skills with experience in contracts
Decisive with a "big picture" perspective as well as versed in systems
Ability to read, to analyze, and to interpret the most complex documents
Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics
