This Senior Vice Chancellor for Administration & Economic Development and Chief Financial Officer serves as a leader and change agent for financial management and planning for Rutgers University-Newark. The successful candidate will be a dynamic thought leader who communicates effectively, works collaboratively, develops and implements best practices, and cultivates strong professionals throughout the organization, the City of Newark, and the surrounding community. This position consults the Chancellor on all administrative matters internally within Rutgers, throughout the campus, in addition to coordinating the activities of campus planning and facilities, real estate, information technology, EMS, university parking services, and business and budgetary matters. The Senior Vice Chancellor also aligns these activities with University goals and objectives as defined by the Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration (EVPFA). This position leads capital improvements and advances economic development initiatives, and manages the Responsibility Centered Model (RCM) budget for RU-N. The Senior Vice Chancellor is responsible for the effective implementation and use of university administrative information systems by RU-N units and for the coordination of collaborative efforts between RU-N and other Chancellor units and with Central Administration.
The Senior Vice Chancellor is responsible for identifying opportunities for public and private partnerships that promote the anchor institution agenda of RU-N which include but are not limited to:
Develops a strategic vision and accompanying initiatives and policies to ensure RU-N's fiscal health, supporting the Chancellor for internal and external financial matters through policy and business management;
Recommends strategies to the Chancellor, to ensure RU-N financial well-being and administrative efficiency and effectiveness;
Responsible for the comprehensive and unit-specific financial reporting processes for RU-N in concert with the University Budget Office;
Supports the schools, centers, and other units in providing timely and accurate reporting to the respective deans, the Chancellor, the EVPFA, the President, and other key stakeholders;
Presents RU-N financial reports and plans to the Committee on Finance and Facilities for the Board of Governors;
Manages an ongoing program of process and organizational improvements within the accounting and finance functions of the campus;
Evaluates the performance of the Deans and Chancellor's leadership team regarding the overall fiscal management of their units, providing input to the Chancellor;
Acts as a member of the Business Leadership Team of University Finance and Administration and sits on the University's Budget Committee.

Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related discipline.
A minimum of eight years of progressively responsible budget and finance, and capital planning related experience in a complex institution.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Capacity and/or proven track record of recruiting, managing, and empowering staff members.
A self-starter with a well-developed aptitude for quantitative analysis capable of working with a executive leadership team to solve a problem or meet a need.
Success in building and developing an outstanding team and the ability to work well with a wide variety of individuals, including faculty, administrators, and other professionals, including but not limited to, colleagues at RU-NB, RU-Camden, RBHS, and community partners.
Must possess strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex financial information, capital planning, and economic development to varied audiences.
Master's degree finance, accounting, business administration, or a related discipline.
Experience with Higher Ed institution or environments
Experience with Responsibility Center Management (RCM) budget models is preferred, but not required.
Progressive managerial/supervisory experience in a complex environment is desired.
