The University of Indianapolis is seeking applicants for the position of Vice-President, Chief Financial Officer & Treasurer. This individual will provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of the University’s financial administration, including development and administration of financial policies and procedures; accounting; external auditing; accounts payable and receivable; insurance programs; benefits plans; operating and capital budgets; capital projects financing; management over the University’s relationships with credit rating agencies and lenders; and various third party relationships with outsourced investment managers of endowed assets. This is a full-time, exempt staff position.
Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's fiscal planning and functions
Develop credibility for the finance function by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets and financial reports that will assist the President, the Board and other senior managers in managing their responsibilities
Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of UIndy
Establish credibility throughout the organization and with the Board as an effective problem solver; be viewed as approachable and as a mentor on financial issues
Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position
Represent UIndy to local and national organizations
Identify, analyze and solve issues that surround the financial health of the University
Support the President, the Provost, and the Board in developing financial models for the University
Create and execute financial strategy of the University
Oversee financial contracts and accounting procedures to ensure compliance and stability in financial system
Oversee the management of the Controller, purchasing and accounting functions at the University
Active member of the President's Cabinet
Serve as Treasurer of the Board of Trustees
Minimum of ten years of senior management experience
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred. Years of experience in lieu of education will be accepted.
Strong leadership skills, excellent business judgment, and a collaborative and innovative temperament
Demonstrated proficiency using financial systems and related technology
Excellent communication skills
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) desired
