ideastream, Northeast Ohio’s innovative multiple media organization, has an exciting opportunity for a Chief Financial Officer. ideastream owns and operates one public TV and two public radio stations, it operates as a private 501 3(c). Located in Playhouse Square, Cleveland’s vibrant theatre district, this organization is situated in a diverse, stimulating, and creative area.
Reporting to the President and CEO, the CFO leads the Finance and Administration management team by directing Finance Office and Physical Plant and Facilities Management. Within the budget approved by the Board of Trustees and the policies and procedures established, the Chief Financial Officer has authority over all budgetary, financial forecasting and other financial administrative matters for the entire organization. Works with budget managers to maintain the expenses of the organization as well as to monitor all revenue for accuracy. In addition, works with supervisors, employees and the COO to assure compliance with personnel and administrative policies of the organization and with applicable laws, requirements and regulations.
Qualifications The successful candidate will possess: •Thorough understanding of cash management, financial modeling and forecasting, budgeting, purchasing, and business systems •Strong working knowledge of Windows, MS Office Suite •Broad general facilities management know-how. •Broad knowledge of administrative and management information systems. •Demonstrated team leadership, management skills and emotional intelligence •Strong written and oral communication skills; presentation skills. •Demonstrated emotional intelligence; integrity, tact, diplomacy, etc. •Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills. •Negotiation skills. •Significant experience in working with a board of directors and its related finance, audit and investment committees •Demonstrated decision making and delegation skills. •Experience working in a non-profit organization (preferred) •Experience working in a public media organization (preferred) •Familiarity with the requirements of the Federal Communications Commission, IRS and state regulations relating to non-commercial media (preferred) •Familiarity with the requirements of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (preferred) •Demonstrated successful, professional experience in similar management position •A seasoned level of experience in a senior financial operations role •Bachelor’s degree or higher, Major in accounting, MBA, CPA a plus.
