Assists the President and CEO by overseeing all finance and accounting functions of the cooperative. Accountable for corporate finance, treasury, billing, controllership, tax and auditing operations to ensure effective utilization of corporate assets and compliance with Federal and State laws. Accountable for developing the corporate budget based upon corporate financial goals. Accountable for assessing and managing financial risks for the corporation. Provides strategic direction in the reporting of financial information to senior management and external agencies. Executes major corporate finance functions including financial reporting, internal controls, business and economic analyses; tax planning and compliance; project analysis; and industry research and analysis.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Accountable for corporate finance, treasury, billing, rates, controllership, tax and auditing operations to ensure effective utilization of corporate assets and compliance with Federal and State laws.
Leads corporate-wide cost management efforts.
Coordinates staff work on projects, including research and implementation of new approaches to financial analysis and other work processes. Leads cost/benefit analysis of options during new business ventures and other business strategies, working with project team. Administers the corporate treasury function.
Establishes and maintains effective disclosure controls and procedures to ensure that material information is made known to the CEO and others within the company.
Evaluates the effectiveness of disclosure controls and procedures.
Oversees development of internal and external financial reports. Coordinates auditing of the company.
Oversees development and execution of tax strategies for the organization.
Designs effective control systems (financial and non-financial) to monitor and improve business unit performance and maintain necessary controls for effective and efficient use of corporate resources.
Partners jointly with Chief Technology Officer in developing and maintaining efficient system to track key business indicators.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in related area.
MBA and CPA preferred.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute
Ten years’ of progressive responsibility in financial management with at least five years’ in a management and accounting position.
Skills and Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of accounting practices and procedures, financial principles and concepts
In-depth knowledge of utility and financial industries
Strong financial management experience
Extensive knowledge of the cooperative business model, cooperative principles, and the electric utility industry, including a generation and transmission environment
Strong leadership skills; demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others
Strong problem solving skills
