The Deputy Director of Athletics, Chief Financial Officer provides leadership and oversight to the budgetary, fiscal, and business operations (including but not limited to Procurement, Contracts, Human Resources) aspects of the Department of Athletics as well as the departmental areas of Facilities & Event Management and Equipment Operations. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Deputy Director of Athletics maintains an indirect reporting relationship with the Vice President for Administration and Finance and a strong working relationship with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Foundation Chief Financial Officer. The position serves as a member of the department's Senior Leadership team and maintains collaborative decision-making authority regarding the organization's financial health.
The Deputy Director of Athletics, working with the Director of Athletics, provides oversight of the creation and development of the department's annual operating budget and private-sourced fund accounts. The position is responsible for planning, monitoring and managing the department's daily and long-term financial activities while ensuring Senior Leadership, Coaches, and Budget Administration are following sound financial principles in accordance with institutional, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. The position maintains managerial authority over operational areas including Department of Athletics Business Office, Equipment Operations, Facilities & Event Management and the financial aspects of Development operations.
The Deputy Director of Athletics, Chief Financial Officer will be expected to maintain a focus on continual process improvements to ensure operational efficiencies and sound business practices as well as engaging in the development of new and maximizing current revenue generation opportunities.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related disciplines. Master’s degree preferred. History of progressively comprehensive senior-level budget management experience. Significant prior responsibility for finance and budgetary decisions at the organizational level. Intercollegiate Athletics Administration experience preferred. Experience in developing and managing large budgets. Experience in business analytics.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required along with the ability to provide effective leadership through inspiring and influencing all with whom the position works.
